Toledo Bend Scenic Byway

The natural beauty and outdoor recreation are what entices visitors to drive Toledo Bend Forest Scenic Byway (LA Highway 191). The 76-mile route displays rolling hills flanked with southern pine and hardwood forests, flora and fauna, lush farmlands, and beautiful lake views.  An abundance of marinas and parks offer a variety of opportunities to enjoy on or off the water. State parks, beaches, interpretive signage areas, observation towers at the Dam, nature trails, wildflowers, and excellent opportunities for birding are accessible along the Byway.

Highway 171 and Hwy 6, plus other arms of the Scenic Byway, provide links to towns, villages and communities in Toledo Bend Country as well as numerous sights and attractions. Including:

Along the Scenic Byway, 30-plus marinas and other accommodations offer the visitor a wide variety of opportunities to enjoy the numerous activities available on or off the water.

Beaches, state parks, historical sites, a 700 acre garden, luxury golf courses, interpretive signage areas, observation towers at the Dam, and excellent opportunities for birding, including habitat for Bald Eagles (such as the one shown here that was photographed off of 191) are accessible along the Scenic Byway.
