The Toledo Bend Lunker Bass Program is a program designed to return trophy fish back to the wild.

To qualify for a fiberglass replica from The Toledo Bend Lake Association and Toledo Town & Tackle you must comply with the following rules:

1. Fish must weigh a minimum of 10 lbs. All fish over 12 lbs. caught between January 1st-April 30th fall under the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Guidelines.

2. Fish must be legally caught in Toledo Bend Reservoir by sporting means; ex. rod and reel, pole and hook. Any fish caught by hand line, set line, net, trap, seine or snagging is not eligible.

3. Fish must be weighed on ASGS approved scales at one of the following locations: Toledo Tackle at intersection LA 191 and LA 6; or weighed on official scales during a fishing tournament held on Toledo Bend Reservoir.

4. Anglers must present their fishing licenses or proof of exemption to the witness at the time of weighing.

5. Angler must agree to release their fish to Toledo Town & Tackle to be released back into the lake alive.

6. A designated witness at one of the above locations must verify and attest to the weight of fish and the live release of fish back into Toledo Bend Reservior.

7. A fisherman receiving a replica as part of tournament winnings will not be awarded a duplicate replica.

To qualify for a fiberglass replica from Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries you must comply with the following rules:

1. The program is limited to Largermouth Bass weighing 12 lbs. or more that are legally caught in Louisiana waters from January 1st-April 30th of the current year.

2. A replica of the lunker and a certificate of appreciation will be given to the fisherman after his/her transfer of all the rights for the use and ownership of the accepted lunker to LDWF.

3. An LDWF Inland Fisheries Biologist will be responsible for accepting a fish into the program, based on his judgement that the fish will be able to survive.

4. The fish must be alive and in good condition.

These replicas are always distributed at the McDonald's Big Bass Splash at Cypress Bend Park.

HANDLING TIPS:

  • Transfer the fish to a well-aerated livewell or igloo cooler, out of light sunlight.
  • Do not hold the fish out of water longer than 30 seconds.
  • Go Immediately to Toledo Town and Tackle to have your fish weighed.
  • Always wet your hands before handling the fish. Use both hands; one firmly grasping the lower jaw and the other supporting its weight just behind the belly, or use a knotless, fine mesh, soft net, or plastic weigh bag to transfer the fish.
